Vatsal Sheth Goes Candid
Vatsal Sheth intended to become a software engineer which he later dropped after his entry in Just Mohabbat. He played many significant roles (in Abbas-Mustan’s Taarzan: The Wonder Car, Nanhe Jaisalmer, Heroes, Paying Guests, Hostel and Jai Ho).
In 2014 Vatsal returned to television in a grey role of Shaurya Goenka in Ek Hasina Thi. In 2017, he was cast as a lead character Kabir Raichand on the thriller TV series Haasil.
He won great applauds for his role in the series Kaun Hai which was a modernised rendition of the mythological story of Hiranyakashap. A part of the Celebrity Cricket Team Mumbai Heroes, he also plays badminton and supports Mumbai Magicians in the Indian Badminton League.
Something about your family background and childhood? You wanted to be a software engineer but then dropped.
I’m born in a very simple middle class family and had a simple childhood.
I wanted to pursue and make my career in software development. But things changed and something new happened in my life, and I’m very happy for what i am today.
What was your family’s reaction?
My family and I were not very much into media and film industry so I was quite nervous because I didn’t have experience. But now I love my profession and being an actor. At the same time, things went well and made my family feel proud.
Your entry in television and films, how did it happen?
I was preparing for my exams at my friend’s house. One day my friend’s mom asked me to give an audition. She gave me someone’s reference; they wanted to cast a young boy who looks just like me. I gave and passed the audition and it opened doors for me and I entered in the world of television and films.
Are you satisfied the way your career graph is moving?
I can never be satisfied and always want to achieve more and more in my career. I love exploring and learning new things.
What do you enjoy more, television or films?
As an actor, it’s always about the character, it’s about the role and the project, and all these things together excite you. It could be a film, TV show or an ad show. I enjoy everything.
What’s success according to you?
Success is all about your own hard work. That is when you are satisfied with your role and performances. The most amazing part is when you get some good reviews from your fans.
Your fitness regime?
Certain physical activities like swimming, walking, badminton. I also make sure, that I go to gym 5 times in a week regularly.
Your style statement?
I’m a guy who looks for something which is comfortable. Style and trend keep changing, but one should like and feel comfortable in what one is wearing.
Mr Amitabh Bachchan. Right from my childhood, I admire him.
Any wish list?
There are so many movies in my wish list. I want to play a super hero, especially in films like James Bond.
