Bikers from across the nation descended on Goa for the ultimate bike fiesta – India Bike Week 2015. India’s largest festival planners the Seventy Event Media Group, together with Fox Life, in association with Harley Davidson and Shell Advance presented the most important festival of bikers, music and mayhem in India that was held in Goa at Vagator on 20th and 21st February 2015. Over 10,000 riders and bike enthusiasts rode cross-country to Goa to celebrate the spirit and lifestyle of the Indian biking community. The list of highlights were unending – from 5 music stages including the Red Bull Tour Bus, 20 live bands and DJs, SHELL Big trip – where festival goers got to hear stories from over 15 legendary Indian and International motorcycle travellers, 7 bars, howling dog quarter-mile drag powered by Shell Advance, IBW National stunt championship finals, GQ Gentleman’s Ride for Magic Bus, contests, vintage classic bike display and concourse; it was a high octane start that provided the crowd with incredible entertainment that kept them craving more.
The highlights on day 1 were the new bike launchers, Mark Wilsmore from Ace Café London, Honour Roll Awards, Interaction with legendary bikers, and music bands and DJ’s. Day 2 saw the Classic Motorcycle Parade, National Stunt Championship Finals, India HOG Rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Martin da Costa, CEO of 70 EMG said that they received an incredible response to the third edition of the festival with the most amazing bikes from across the world coming togther. “We’ve seen over 10,000 bikes meeting each other to party, exchange stories and see the best that Biking in India has to offer. The Indian biking brotherhood has come of age at IBW 2015.” The 3rd India H.O.G. Rally that led the IBW festival also saw the largest number of Harley-Davidson riders in India, coming together to celebrate 5 years of the brand in the country.
Day 2 of the event was action packed which GQ Gentleman’s Ride for Magic Bus – It’s a ride for charity with celebrity riders and bike enthusiasts, additionally there was Classic Motorcycle Parade, Mod Bike Parade, Stunt Finals, AUTOLOGUE custom bike design launched by Yuvraj Singh, India H.O.G. Rally and awards from various events like HD custom Trophy, Classic Motorcycle Award, Stunt Championship awards, IBW Long Haul award, Drag Race, Lifetime Achievement, Honour roll, MOD Bike trophy and Biker Build off.
The festival was graced by ace cricketer and bike enthusiast Yuvraj Singh, known for his enthusiasm for automobiles and is associated with Autologue Design – a car and motorcycle customisation company, which launched its new custom bike designs at IBW. Yuvraj as a first time biker rode all the way from Delhi to Chandigarh, on his friend’s bike and now with his passion growing further, he also expressed his interest to be a part of the India Bike Week 2016.
After seeing an annual 30% increase in participation by festival-goers since 2013, the organisers say that they were committed to the development of IBW as India’s largest dedicated bike exhibition featuring the very latest in cruisers, custom bikes, sport bikes, as well as making it an essential racing, stunt and music destination.
With the coming of age of India’s biker community and industry, the coming years are expected to witness a gradual popularity of super bikes in the country, thanks to the already growing India Bike Week Festival that has literally inspired a new generation of bikers to take to the roads!
