As compared to women, men’s skin is more exposed to blackheads, closed pores and so on. Cleansing and moisturising your skin every day helps get rid of any impurities.
Below are a number of home remedies men can opt for:
SKIN
In a bowl, add seedless pulp of cucumber, half a tbsp of lemon juice, a tbsp of witch hazel and a tbsp orange juice and mix well. Apply to the face and leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water.
Mix 2 tbsp coconut water and a drop of sandalwood and gently rub it on the skin for 10-15 minutes and rinse it off. This recipe will lighten and brighten the skin.
To remove a tan and brighten dull skin, mix one tablespoon oatmeal powdered with enough sour yoghurt to make a paste and the juice of cucumber or grapes and add 2 drops of rose oil. Apply this pack onto the tanned area, leave for half an hour and rinse off. Follow this up with moisturiser.
The best natural facial mask is honey. Put a clean cloth in warm water and gently wash your face to open the pores up and remove the dirt. Apply a thin layer of honey on the skin and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
HAIR
Massage your scalp with shampoo. Massage stimulates blood flow and encourages the growth of healthy hair. When dry, brushing your hair stimulates the scalp, and also gets rid of any dead hair.
Mix 1 tsp castor oil, 1 tsp of amla or brahmi oil, 1 tsp malt vinegar, 1 tsp glycerin with 1 tsp of shampoo. Apply to the hair and rinse it off
Put some curd in a bowl and leave it open for three days. Massage your scalp with it for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water.
Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in some water overnight and grind it into a fine paste in the morning. Apply this paste all over the scalp and leave it on for an hour. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water.
Warm oil and massage it onto your scalp. Wrap a towel on your head and leave it on for 2 hours. The towel will retain heat, keeping the scalp and hair slightly warm which will help increase the absorption of oil into scalp and hair.
BODY
Mix 1 cup of plain yoghurt with 3 tbsp of honey in a bowl and gently apply the mask onto your body. Leave on for 30 minutes and then take a shower. The lactic acid in yoghurt loosens dead skin cells and fades dark spots. Honey adds moisture to the skin and makes it glow.
Mix 2 tbsp of ground almond paste, 2 tbsp of oatmeal, 2 tbsp of honey, and half a cup of plain yoghurt in a bowl to make a fine paste. Gently rub over your body and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off.
HANDS AND FEET
Your hands and feet should not be ignored. A pedicure and manicure (which normally includes a foot massage to stimulate your skin) is a must 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding. At home, you should moisturise your hands once each day, and soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes.
Sugar Scrub – Mix 1 cup sugar, 1 cup oil of your choice and half a tbsp lime juice in a bowl and store it in a container. To use, take a small amount of the scrub and rub gently all over your hands and fingertips for about 10 minutes. Rinse off and pat dry with a towel.
